And just like that, 2021 has come to an end. This year has been a wild ride and over the last 365 days, I have enjoyed the highs, grown from the lows, and learned from everything else in between. Here’s a quick recap of all the things that happened in not only my business but my personal life as well;
You have also learned a lot from me in 2021 and to honor the end of the year, I want to spend some time reflecting (and celebrating) my most popular Instagram posts.

But in all seriousness, who decided this?! š¤Æ
The last time I checked there was no criteria for a workout.
No rubric. No guidelines. No rules.
Yet, why do we have so many thoughts around what counts as a workout…?
Why do we feel guilty if we only go for a walk? Or take a rest day?
Better yet, why are we praised for taking back-to-back classes?
Why has society told us that the movement weāre doing is okay, but more would be better?
As a personal trainer and registered dietitian, this really bothers me š (if you canāt tell). It bothers me because it discourages someone from trying something new and can intimidate people who are interested in exercising for the first time because they think they have to work out like the people they see online or else it doesn’t count.
Which is complete bullsh*t.
All movement counts. A walk counts. A few squats count. Cleaning the house counts.
Share this post and help normalize enjoyable, fun, and safe movement in 2021.

This is a pet peeve of mineā¦.
Why? Because your Apple Watch isnāt accurate ā¼ļø
In fact, most fitness trackers donāt accurately measure caloriesā¦ instead they rely on an algorithm and make an educated āguess.ā
Yup, you read that right. The calories on your watch (and on the treadmill at the gym) are just an educated guess and therefore should not be used as an indicator of a āgoodā workout.
Instead, I encourage you to shift your focus on how you feel before, during, and after the workout. Bonus points if you notice yourself having FUN during the workout!
So please do me a favor – now that we know itās not accurate, can we please stop posting pictures of our Apple Watch screens after a workout? Thanks š

Stop denying your body the food it deserves!
This phrase is nothing to be proud of.
Iāve heard SO many individuals say this phrase over the years like it was something to be celebrated… and itās not!
Your body needs food to function. End of story.
So the next time you hear someone say this phrase I challenge you to respond by asking why and see how they react. My hope is that by doing so we can spark some ah-ha moments or even just get them thinking about this topic.
Looking back I noticed that all my top-performing posts had the same intention, to spark interest and challenge the way my audience thinks about food, movement, and their bodies (which I absolutely LOVE). If you want to see more posts like this, make sure to follow me on Instagram!
Wishing you all a happy and healthy new year!
